A Cozy Family Getaway to the Homestead

By Courtney Whilden

After the fury of Christmas, my family was excited to get away so we set off on a snow-filled adventure at the Homestead in Virginia. As soon as we arrived, my two daughters were anxious to explore so we toured every nook and cranny of the property. Then we were all business.

ICE SKATING! My AS by DF Elisabetta Fur Shag Jacket from last year kept me super warm as the girls and I circled the ice skating rink over and over. (P.S. This year, the jacket comes in Winter White. Snag one now! It’s a Whilden favorite.)

SKIING! We got up early the next day and took the girls skiing. Luckily, they loved it. My oldest daughter loved it so much that she ended up staying on the slopes all day. My youngest daughter was most interested in the apres-ski life. She is pictured here in my sunglasses “after hours” by Quay, along with her cozy Linda Richards Pom Pom hat for kids. (We still have a few available at Whilden!) That afternoon, we met up with some friends, roasted marshmallows and had dinner at Jefferson’s Restaurant and Bar.

SPA After all that snow activity, we spent our last day at the spa. The kids had a blast at the Kids Club, while we enjoyed massages, then relaxed in the mineral pools. The spa was amazing and definitely a highlight of the trip. My Rosie sweater kept me comfy during this low-key day. That night, we grabbed our friends and headed to dinner and a magic show. The kids had such a great time they tried to re-enact the entire show afterward.

This Homestead trip turned out to be such a fun weekend and the perfect getaway right after the holidays. Until next time….
